Past Winners » Ironclad

I am backing Ironclad here.  Hugo Palmer’s horse was beaten by Durrell at Chelmsford on his penultimate run, but that was his first run back after a short break, and he wasn’t beaten far.  He bounced out of that and won nicely at Beverley next time.

He wouldn’t have been suited by the sedate pace of that race, but he dug deep and was brave in victory.  He should have progressed from that run, just the fourth of his life, and the fact that he meets Durrell on 3lb better terms is obviously a positive.

More rain would also be a positive.  It is a competitive little race, but Ironclad is over-priced in my book.
