Search For A Song

Search For A Song ran well in the Irish Oaks. Keen through the early stages of the race, Dermot Weld’s filly travelled well for Chris Hayes down the hill and into the home straight. The sedate early pace determined that it was difficult for any filly to make ground from the rear but, taken towards the outside, the Moyglare Stud filly stayed on well. She dropped back to seventh of the eight runners initial when the pace quickened, but she kept on really well down the outside to move back up into fourth by the time they reached the winning line, and she was closing on third-placed Pink Dogwood at the line.

It was a fine run by the Galileo filly on just her third ever run. Unraced as a juvenile, and winner of her maiden on her racecourse debut at Fairyhouse in May, she ran well to finish second to Trethias in the Listed Naas Oaks Trial on her second run, and this was a step forward from that. This was just her third run, and she should do better with this experience under her belt, she should learn to settle better as she gains in experience. She should also do better off a faster pace or a step up in trip or both. She has a great pedigree, she is a three-parts sister to Free Eagle and she is a full-sister to Falcon Eight, who won a listed race over two miles at Sandown on Eclipse day on just his fifth run. She holds an entry in the Group 3 Give Thanks Stakes at Cork in mid-August, and that would be a legitimate target for her before stepping back up in grade.
