Silver Streak

It could be worth following Silver Streak this season.  Evan Williams’ horse was impressive in winning the listed two-mile hurdle on his seasonal debut.

Held up early on by Adam Wedge, he wasn’t great at the final flight on the far side, and he was three wide around the home turn as he started to mount his challenge, but he moved easily into the lead past Grand Sancy on the run to the second last flight, and he moved clear on the run to the last.  He wasn’t overly fluent there, where Grand Sancy fell, but he had so much in hand, he ran on strongly to post an impressive victory in a good time.

It was a really nice start back for Evan Williams’ horse.  It seems like he has been around for ages, but he is still only six.  Third in last season’s Champion Hurdle, it was interesting that his trainer said afterwards that he trained him like a handicapper who he thought was badly handicapped last season, but that he would train him like a good horse this term. The Dark Angel gelding had some really strong form last season, he finished second in the Greatwood Hurdle and in the International Hurdle and in the Haydock Champion Hurdle Trial, as well as finishing third in the Champion Hurdle. He could be an under-rated horse in some of the good graded hurdle races this term.
