26th-Dec-2019

This race has been billed as a match between Fakir D’Oudairies and Laurina, but Notebook has gone a little under the radar as a consequence.

Henry de Bromhead’s horse was not as good as the top two over hurdles, but he is a super jumper of fences.  He was impressive in beating Éclair De Beaufeu at Punchestown on his chasing debut – form that was enhanced when the runner-up won next time – and he stepped forward from that nicely in winning the Grade 2 Craddockstown Chase back at Punchestown next time.

Fakir D’Oudairies is a super jumper too, and Laurina is obviously top class, and Notebook has to conceded 7lb to both.  But that is factored into their respective odds, and it is worth taking a chance on Notebook at the price.

NOTEBOOK WON (ADV 17/2, SP 7/1)
