Horses To Follow » Yaxeni

Yaxeni ran well to finish third in the Group 3 Blue Wind Stakes. Held up early on by Colin Keane, she travelled well out of the back straight and into the home straight. Last of the seven runners as they turned for home, she came wide into the home straight, and she stayed on nicely down the outside to move into third place behind Once Voice and Snow deep inside the final furlong, coming away from the fourth filly Amma Grace close home.

This was just Ger Lyons’ filly’s second ever run. Her trained said afterwards that they have always thought that she would be a 12-furlong filly and, indeed, she raced here as if she would appreciate a step up in trip. She should improve too for this experience, and she will be of interest wherever she goes next. Her trainer mentioned the Munster Oaks as a potential target.
