Tinandali

Tinandali ran well to finish third in the 10-furlong Investec Handicap. Settled in mid-division early on by Jim Crowley, he didn’t come down the hill great, and he was among horses early in the home straight. Moved to the inside on the run to the furlong marker, he stayed on well on the inside rail. He was never really getting to Sky Defender and Breath Caught, but he kept on well all the way to the line to get to within three lengths of the winner, closest at the finish.

It was a fine run by the Oasis Dream gelding on just his second run for David O’Meara. Winner over a mile and over 10 furlongs for Dermot Weld last year, he shaped well on his first run for his new trainer when finishing second to Nicholas T at Ayr three weeks earlier, the pair of them nicely clear. Raised by 2lb for that run, he shaped here as if there could be a good handicap in him off this mark of 102. There is plenty of stamina in his pedigree, his half-brother Timiyan won twice over a mile and a half on the flat and he was first past the post in the Midlands National at Kilbeggan over an extended three miles, so he could do better stepped up to a mile and a half, or on easier ground. He raced here too as if he could go further.
