Perfect Candidate is 13 now, and he was well beaten in that Aintree race, but he loves Haydock, and it is probable that the Aintree run will bring him forward nicely for today.

He won this race last year as a 12-year-old, having gone into it on the back of two defeats.  He is 5lb higher now than he was last year, but he is still 22lb lower than his peak.   And we know that a proven ability to operate on soft ground at Haydock is a big asset when you go back to soft ground at Haydock.  He has run twice at Haydock, twice on soft ground, and he has run really well on both occasions.
