One Night Thunder

One Night Thunder was the other horse to take out of the Lincoln. Smartly away from stall 16, he led the group that raced on the near side, and he led the field overall as they raced to the two-furlong marker. He was overhauled by the closers on the run to the furlong marker, the first six home all raced in mid-division or worse, and five of the first seven home raced on the far side, but he still kept on to finish 10th.

Winner of a novice stakes at Kempton on his racecourse debut as a three-year-old in March last year for Richard Hannon, he ran well at a big price in a one-mile handicap at Newmarket last November on his first run for Gemma Tutty. This was just his third run for his new trainer, and it was his seasonal debut, his first run since November, so there is every chance that he will progress for it. His dam won over six furlongs, but she is out of a half-sister to the top-class stayer Pale Mimosa, so he could stay further than a mile. He handles a cut in the ground well and he has raced just seven times in his life, so there could be more to come.
