Lou Lou’s Gift

Lou Lou’s Gift did well to get as close as she did in the seven-furlong three-year-old fillies’ handicap at Newmarket on Saturday. Slowly away and held up early on, she was a little keener than ideal through the early part of the race. She made good ground through her field though, and she arrived there as the only challenger to Asian Daze through the final furlong, going down by a neck in the end with the pair of them pulling nicely clear of their rivals.

This was just Lou Lou’s Gift’s sixth run, and she came into it on the back of an impressive win in a lesser handicap over the same course and distance two weeks earlier. Asian Daze was a progressive filly for Johnny Murtagh, she didn’t have a lot of luck in-running in a few of her races in Ireland and she was having her first run here for Jane Chapple-Hyam, she is a talented filly and time may show that Lou Lou’s Gift did well to get as close to her as she did. Lou Lou’s Gif is also talented and progressive, and William Haggas’ filly goes well on good ground as well as on fast ground. She was impressive in winning at Newmarket last month on good to firm ground. Also, a half-sister to Mighty Ulysses, whose four wins were gained over a mile, she could improve for the step up to a mile.
