Quddwah

Quddwah won the Summer Mile at Ascot by just three parts of a length, but he left the impression that he had a fair bit more in hand than the winning margin. They didn’t go a great pace, which probably wasn’t ideal, but he always travelled well for Callum Shepherd and, when his rider gave him a squeeze he picked up well and he was well on top at the end.

This was just Quddwah’s fourth run and it was his fourth win. Unraced as a juvenile, he won his two races last season at three, and he won the Listed Paradise Stakes over the Queen Anne course and distance on his debut this season. He didn’t make it to the Queen Anne, but the horses who finished second and third behind him in the Paradise Stakes, Docklands and Maljoom, finished second and third behind Charyn in the Queen Anne. Quddwah holds an entry in the Sussex Stakes, and he will be of interest if he lines up in that. Mohaather won the Sussex Stakes in 2020 after winning the Summer Mile. There could still be lots more to come from the Crisfords’ horse.
