Tropbeau
Tropbeau ran on well to take third place in the Cheveley Park Stakes behind Millisle. Last early on, and probably going as fast as she wanted to go, she started to make progress two furlongs out among traffic. She cut through her field, but she didn't have a lot of racing room, and she was checked a little at the furlong marker and had to change direction. She did get going again, but Millisle had momentum up on the near side and finished more strongly. Tropbeau was short of room again close home, but for which she probably would have finished second, in front of Raffle Prize.
It was a fine run by Andre Fabre's filly, racing over a trip that is probably short of her best. Her previous three runs had been over seven furlongs, and she was victorious in all three, including in the Group 2 Prix du Calvados at Deauville in August, which she won easily. As well as that, there was a tailwind at Newmarket on Saturday, and they broke the juveniles' track record here, so it was probably more a test of speed than ideal for her.
This was just the Showcasing filly's fifth run, so she has lots of potential for progression. She could get a mile, she could be a Guineas filly for next season. Andre Fabe often has an eye on the Guineas when he takes a juvenile to Newmarket in the autumn.
