Letsbeclearaboutit
Letsbeclearaboutit was impressive in winning the Grade 3 two-and-a-half-mile novices' chase at Cork on Sunday. Prominent from early, he always travelled well for Sean Flanagan, and his jumping was very good. He moved to the front at the top of the home straight, and he jumped the last three fences really well before stretching clear on the run-in.
It was difficult to fault this performance from Gavin Cromwell's horse. He was a good bumper horse and he was a classy novice hurdler last season, he finished fourth in the Albert Bartlett Hurdle at Cheltenham and in the Mersey Hurdle at Aintree, but he is two for two now over fences and, such is the fluency and accuracy of his jumping, he could go well beyond his hurdles rating of 138 now over fences. He stays well, he won his maiden hurdle over three miles, but he has pace too, and it may be that he will be seen to best effect this season over fences over two and a half. His trainer said that he might be given an entry in the Drinmore Chase over that trip, and he would be a big player in that. Looking further ahead, it wouldn't be surprising to see him lining up in either the Turners Chase or the Brown Advisory Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
