I am taking a chance on Surrounding in this listed fillies’ race.

Michael Halford’s mare is nine now, but she has been steadily making her way forward this season again.  She ran well last time in the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes to finish a close-up third behind Marbling and Nectaris, when she didn’t have a lot of racing room towards the far side at the furlong marker.

She does have just over a length to find with Nectaris on that run, but she is 1lb better off and Nectaris enjoyed a good run through her race from the front.  Nectaris may well have it all to herself again today, and she is a big player, and she is ideally drawn in stall one, but Night Of Romance likes to go forward too, they may not help each other, and Galway’s stiffer finish could allow Surrounding get closer to her than she did at Fairyhouse.

As well as that, Surrounding goes well at Galway, she won this race in 2019, and she could out-run her odds today.
